Scholarship

The Potomac Valley Chapter is dedicated to helping deserving students in our coverage area to attend and thrive at WVU through scholarships and other periodic assistance such as the Mountaineer Marching Band and assistance with students’ books.

The Chapter maintains an Endowed Scholarship (greater than $25,000) with the WVU Foundation, Inc.  Fund #3S865 which will continue on in perpetuity. Our Chapter continues annually to add to this endowment fund by contributing a portion of our annual membership dues and all profits from our Fall Golf Classic. The Scholarship Agreement establishes a gift to be used by the Foundation for the benefit of West Virginia University students.

This fund will be awarded based on the following criteria:

  • May be either a West Virginia Resident or Non-Resident student enrolled at West Virginia University.
  • Undergraduate scholarship.
  • Student majoring in any program at WVU Morgantown Campus or Potomac State College of WVU
  • Recipients shall be for residents of the following counties/states:

    • Allegany, Maryland
    • Garrett, Maryland

The Potomac Valley Chapter nor any of its officers have any input into the qualification or selection of recipients. That process is conducted by the WVU Office of Financial Aid. A copy of our most recent agreement is available by clicking here.

Our scholarships – along with everything else we do – is made possible through your participation and support. A portion of our membership dues and profits from our events allows us to continually increase our scholarship fund in order to assist more students.
